Understanding Technology Learners

Today’s learners appear smarter, yet they can’t read as their parents do and they are addicted to the internet. Even in classes, their concentration is questionable as they are uneasy to simply sit and listen. They become alive again through video presentations, group activities and computer classes. And it is also to be admitted that our teachers today generally use the traditional education applicable to the learners of the past.



o   Cyberspace   -           Internet
o   Newbies         -           first time users of internet
o   Internauts    -           frequent users of internet
o   Netiquette    -           it is the good behavior online
o   Twitter          -           online news and social networking site
o   Youtube         -           video sharing website
o   Facebook       -           social networking site
o   Pinterest       -           content sharing site
o   Flickr             -           image hosting and video hosting site
o   Share             -           share a resource is to make joint use of it
o   Feed               -           provide users with frequently updated content
o   Skype             -           provide video chat and voice call services
o   Instagram     -           online mobile photo and video sharing and social networking site
o   LinkedIn       -           business and employment oriented social networking site

ü  Spend much time talking with friends on their cell phones
ü  Send text messages
ü  Interact through social media
ü  Play video games
ü  Surf the world wide web

                                                 “Multi-Tasking”


-       -  Today’s generation often do multi-tasking because they can able to perform, manage        and operate activities or tasks simultaneously. 
    - Just like watching video while chatting  online, downloading files such as pictures and  music, and surfing the web.
-   - But, researchers show that multi-tasking can be detrimental because this prevents  concentration and the completion of specific tasks.
